Holiday Home Tour

The USGHA Holiday Home Tour will be held from noon to 5pm on Sunday, December 4th. Tickets are $10, and may be pre-purchased by phone at 937-378-3087 or at Donohoo's Drugstore on the square.

The tour is self-guided, and will begin at the Thompson House Gallery, 203 E. Grant Ave, where tickets can be bought the day of.

Every ticket will come with a tour packet and map, and will be automatically entered into a raffle to win a John Ruthven-Thompson House Basket valued at over $125.

Stops on the tour include the historic Klosterman House on State Route 221, the US Grant Boyhood Home and School in downtown Georgetown, and the Colonel Dan Ammen home at 115 S. Apple Street.

A new stop this year is the Stock Company building, located at 107 S. Apple Street. Built in 1849 by a partnership of Georgetown Masons, it was known locally as the Masonic Block, although it was not a lodge project. The third floor hosted Masonic meetings until 1902, and painted symbols still remain on the ceiling.

The bottom stories have changed hands many times, serving as hardware store, a jeweler who doubled as town's clock winder, a restaurant and bakery in the 1880's, and most recently an optometrist. The building stood vacant for many years, but renovations are underway to make it into a private residence.

For questions or tickets, please call 937-378-3087.
